Six nights before The Seven Hills Run!
This Sunday the city of Nijmegen will be crowded with over 30,000 people joining the “Zevenheuvelenloop” (Seven Hills Run) – a 15 Kilometer run over the hills around Nijmegen. You may have read in previous posts that Aia will join with a team and I will be part of the team. I’ve been training since March and felt ready for this challenge. Last Saturday I ran a trial run with colleagues Jeroen Huinink and Mark van Dorland. It was my first round on the track and I was a bit unsure whether I would be able to make it over all the hills.
Lovely sunshine accompanied us during our run – it was great to run around my old city. We all managed to complete the run in about 1 hour and 15 minutes. My girlfriend’s uncle Peter Kaemereit from Essen in Germany (alias Mr Marathon) will run with me and he named this time “verdammt schnell” (not translatable) He thinks that we can even go faster in the real race on Sunday!
So, six more nights and then for the real stuffffffff! It looks like all my training effort is finally paying off!
